FAQ

Can CCA be used for 4-20 mA signal cables?

Yes, CCA is suitable for 4-20 mA signal cables. The current loop is relatively insensitive to conductor resistance, making CCA's moderate conductivity adequate for typical run lengths.

What shielding is needed for industrial signal cables?

For moderate EMI, use foil shielding. For high EMI environments, use braid shielding. For severe EMI or critical signals, use combination foil+braid shielding. Ground shields at the controller end only.

Is CCA suitable for Ethernet cables?

CCA can be used for short Ethernet patch cords but is not recommended for permanent installations. Copper is preferred for backbone cabling to meet TIA-568 specifications and ensure reliable high-speed performance.

How do I ground signal cable shields?

For most industrial applications, use single-point grounding at the controller end. This prevents ground loops while providing effective EMI protection. For high-frequency signals, follow specific protocol requirements.
